This may help with pregnancy-related expenses such as housing, food, transportation, and medical care. This support is provided legally and is designed to reduce stress during your pregnancy.

Is it confidential if I ask for pregnancy help?

Yes. Asking for pregnancy help is completely confidential.

You can contact A New Beginning privately and speak with a pregnancy counselor or licensed social worker without anyone else knowing. We provide a safe, judgment-free space for women across Idaho to ask questions and explore their options.

Yes. In Idaho, the birth mother can change her mind about adoption until they sign legal consent after your baby is born.

This is her decision, and she should never feel pressured to move forward until she is completely sure.

I am pregnant, do I have to tell the father?

You’re welcome to involve the birth father if you choose. We’ll walk you through applicable laws and support you both every step of the way, if that’s the path you want.

If you are unsure of who the father is, we can help you navigate the situation with compassion.

When should I make an adoption plan?

You can make an adoption plan at any time—during pregnancy, at the hospital, after birth, or even after trying to parent. Whenever you’re ready, an adoption specialist can guide you through the process, connect you with a family, and provide ongoing support.

I want the birth father involved in the process, is that okay?

Absolutely. You’re welcome to involve the birth father if you choose. We’ll walk you through applicable laws and support you both every step of the way, if that’s the path you want.

Can I pick an adoptive family?

Yes! Choosing the right adoptive family for you is an important decision. All families have completed a home study and meet all of our adoption requirements. Support is provided to help you identify the qualities in a family that matters most, and walk you through selecting a family you feel confident and comfortable with.  To view prepared and trained adoptive families, visit our Adoptive Parent Profile Page.

What if I want an open adoption?

Yes! Your adoption plan is completely yours. You can choose an open, semi-open, or closed relationship with the adoptive family. Open adoption can include ongoing contact, limited communication, or anything in between. If you’re interested in open adoption, support is provided to help you review families who are open to this option and to mediate the relationship as needed.

Who makes the medical decisions for me and my baby?

You’re in control. All medical decisions during your pregnancy, including prenatal care and delivery, are entirely up to you. The adoptive parents begin making medical decisions only after your child is placed with them.
