I'm pregnant, where can I get help?

You are not alone in your unplanned pregnancy. Use A New Beginning’s Pregnancy help-line to speak to a compassionate professional who will walk you through your options.

When should I make an adoption plan?

You can make an adoption plan at any time—during pregnancy, at the hospital, after birth, or even after trying to parent. Whenever you’re ready, an adoption specialist can guide you through the process, connect you with a family, and provide ongoing support.

I want the birth father involved in the process, is that okay?

Absolutely. You’re welcome to involve the birth father if you choose. We’ll walk you through applicable laws and support you both every step of the way, if that’s the path you want.

Can I pick an adoptive family?

Yes! Choosing the right adoptive family for you is an important decision. All families have completed a home study and meet all of our adoption requirements. Support is provided to help you identify the qualities in a family that matters most, and walk you through selecting a family you feel confident and comfortable with.

Is financial assistance available during the pregnancy?

Yes. In Idaho, assistance is available to help with necessary living expenses. A financial plan is created to make sure your needs are covered while making an adoption plan. A New Beginning will help coordinate the support available to you.

What if I want an open adoption?

Yes! Your adoption plan is completely yours. You can choose an open, semi-open, or closed relationship with the adoptive family. Open adoption can include ongoing contact, limited communication, or anything in between. If you’re interested in open adoption, support is provided to help you review families who are open to this option and to mediate the relationship as needed.

Who makes the medical decisions?

You’re in control. All medical decisions during your pregnancy, including prenatal care and delivery, are entirely up to you. The adoptive parents begin making medical decisions only after your child is placed with them.
