Being a social worker is being dedicated to your clients (people, individuals, groups anyone who needs help) through challenges and triumphs, any day of the week and most hours of the day. It is one of the most difficult careers but also one of the most rewarding. A New Beginning has worked with colleges and universities across the state and even outside of Idaho to provide meaningful internships for their senior level social work students for years.
Each semester we welcome 2-3 interns to A New Beginning’s team. Each has a real life experience as a social worker. They work with our birth families, adoptive families, health & welfare professionals, complete home studies, home inspections, outreach and awareness, present to high school students about adoption, host booths at recruitment fairs, learn to manage caseloads and often receive additional training through A New Beginning’s in-service learning opportunities. When its time for graduation, many continue on and pursue their careers or a Master’s degree in Social Work. Fortunately, many return to A New Beginning as full time staff and continue doing what they love…adoption.
We are excited to announce that Kaitie Judy, BSW and NNU graduate has joined our team as an adoption specialist in the infant program. Families who are currently in our Infant Program and those entering the program will have the pleasure of meeting and working with Kaitie. We invite you to visit her bio page and learn more about her.
Other interns who joined us after college include, Amy Longchamps, Amber Kidd, Quincy Budell and Emma Kennedy (Emma just started her Masters Degree at BSU so we had to say farewell).
